
The edges are first stitched together and then resititched again with the leather binding wrapped around them (resulting in double stitching around the whole bag) The binding is cut from the same leather used in the case.
We can, of course, stitch the edges only once with a single or double
needle machine and save ourselves time and
labor costs but, this extra step is very important
as it strengthens the overall construction as well as preventing an
unsightly unfinished edge that would start fraying and deforming over time, and
gives the finished product a professional look
